AI Tool: MelodyStudio

I was speaking with my friend Sean Longstreet this morning, and he told me about an incredible AI tool called MelodyStudio - an amazing platform for songwriters and creators that uses a powerful AI-tool to help you create melodies for lyrics that you’ve written, as well as many other pretty cool functions. I decided to give it a try, signed up for a free preview account, and types in lyrics to a song that I wrote in college to see what would happen. I am pretty impressed. Before diving in, check out this video that provides a comprehensive overview of the product.

After signing up for my free preview account, I decided to dive right in without reading any tutorials to see how intuitive the program is. I was able to quickly type in my long-forgotten lyrics to a song I wrote titled Love Is Blind (I know - cheesy) to see what MelodyStudio would do.

After entering the lyrics to the first and second verses of my song as well as the chord progression, I simply clicked the Add Melody button to see what would happen. After a few seconds, I had a choice of 3 melodies on the right side of the screen. You can preview each one by clicking on it, and if you find one that you like, there is a downward pointing arrow that adds it to the piano roll style sequencer track at the bottom of the screen. Very cool technology. What I really like about MelodyStudio is that it gives you options - options that you can either use as is, OR options that might inspire you to write your own new melody. You can even edit the suggested melodies to suit your own musical taste. It’s like ChatGPT for melodies. When introducing songwriting to students, writing melodies and lyrics is often the hardest part. By incorporating a tool like MelodyStudio into the process, you will likely take away some of those initial fears and hopefully inspire the students to create melodies and lyrics of their own.

There are some other very useful AI tools included in MelodyStudio, like a Chord Progression tool, a Lyric writing tool (powered by its sister product, LyricStudio), a rhyming dictionary and a thesaurus - all tools that songwriters use all the time.

MelodyStudio is affordably prices at $7.99/month or $71.88/year. I strongly suggest at least taking advantage of the free preview account to see for yourself. Hats off to the folks at MelodyStudio for creating a very powerful AI tool for songwriters. I hope that you can use this with your students!
